VOLUNTEER: A volunteer is someone who performs or offers to perform a service out of his own free will.
SEVA: Seva is the spiritual practice of selfless service. Seva, a Sanskrit word, springs from two forms of yoga, Karma Yoga which is yoga of action and Bhakti Yoga, the yoga of worship inspired by divine love. Seva is one of the simplest and yet most profound and life changing ways that we can put our spiritual knowledge into action. Seva is asking “How may I serve” Or ask “How can I help?” Another way of doing service is to roll up your sleeves and help where you notice that you are needed. We can share our resources and energy with those in need and respond positively when a person asks for help. When you consider work as divine service, you can do it anywhere, at any time. Doing Seva is uplifting your own self, your own people and your world. Offering our Seva is a way to make a significant contribution to the spiritual community of fellow beings on earth. It is a practice that feeds us spiritually and a spiritual discipline that awakens us to the greater truth of our own being.So, I would ask that you individually ask – How may I serve? How can I help?

**Definitions of teams and signups for the upcoming year will be available in Foyer beginning August 19th of each year, however there are opportunites to serve all year long! Many teams need voluteers and leaders.....see below **

Pitch in
Our wonderful Unity volunteers, like people everywhere, are sometimes unable to fulfill their intentions with regard to service. As a result, on some Sundays, there are incidental volunteer opportunities. If you don't feel able to commit to regular volunteer time, consider becoming an “incidental volunteer”- one who is willing to pitch in when the need arises. Administrative Support
Barbara Beale - Team Leader
We meet once a week, to fold and stuff the Sunday bulletin.
Occasionally, we get together to handle large mailings, special letters and announcements.

Activities & Fitness
Team Leader Needed
·We plan and coordinate the Health Fair at Unity Church, as well as hikes, bicycle rides, family outings, rafting trips, skating, theater events, and much more.

Audio/Visual
Chuck Russell - Team Leader
Our team records and duplicates all of the Sunday church services on CDs. We also set-up the audio and video for the services in the "overflow" area in the fellowship hall. Our team sets up the equipment for guest speakers and special events/performers.

Beyond The Walls
Shirley Miekka and Amy Lee - Team Leaders
Our team encourages community service via volunteer opportunities with the needy and homeless. We coordinate the ongoing FOOD DRIVE, and MEDICAL SET projects, as well as the seasonal BEAN PROJECT (February - March), SPRING FLING (April - June), COAT DRIVE (September - October), MITTEN & HAT TREE (Nov/Dec), and the TEDDY BEAR PROJECT (Nov/Dec). In addition, we assist those that attend Unity who have emergency financial situations via the LOVE BASKET project (the LOVE BASKET project may extend out to the community if there are resources not being used by Unity families).

Bookstore
Crystal Torode and Cathy McDonald - Team Leaders
We sell Unity and other books, CDs and magazines, and offer helpful information to newcomers. Other types of opportunities are promotions, book reviews for our newsletter, bulletin advertisements, and sale of products before and after weekday classes and events.

Fellowship
Irma & Tom Kulikowski - Team Leaders
Our team oversees Sunday morning hospitality hours. We provide coffee and light refreshments for members and visitors. We might also assist with special meals.

Greeters & Ushers
Richard Anthony - Team Leader
We welcome those coming into the church. Greeters help and direct newcomers (those with children to the appropriate classrooms for their children's age group). Our Usher team greets and hands out bulletins to congregants before the services. We assist in seating when necessary. We collect the donations at the end of the service.

History
Charalee Topinka - Team Leader
We research, conduct interviews, and record the history of Unity Church in the Rockies.

Gardening/Landscaping
Garry McKee - Team Leader
Our team is responsible for beautification of the church grounds in the spring. We also maintain the landscaping throughout the year. The team mows once a week, trims edges and fertilizes monthly.

Library
Leona LaJoie - Team Leader
The library team catalogs and marks all new book donations. We monitor the books that have been checked out and maintain the organization of the library.

Membership
Linda Anthony - Team Leader
·Our team follows up with visitors and community members and we organize a monthly newcomers' potluck dinner.

Music on the Mesa
Larry Churchill - Team Leader
Our Team organizes the monthly concerts and potluck community dinners for our church.

Newsletter
Richard Anthony - Team Leader
Our team publishes a monthly newsletter of happenings, interviews, classes, calendar of events.

Photography
Pat Wolla - Team Leader
We photograph church events. Our team posts the pictures and manages the photo bulletin board. We also send the pictures to the website team to post on the church website.

Platform Assistants
Linda Anthony - Team Leader
We assist Reverend Lawrence during Sunday services. Our team also offers support and assistance during special seasonal services.

Prayer / Healing
Donna Nunez - Team Leader
The members of our team participate in our prayer healing circle with their energy and words. We gather after service on Sundays. We accept prayer requests that are submitted via the church office or the church website.

Property Development
Byron Johnson - Team Leader
Our team researches and provides recommendations to the Board on issues concerning our properties on Mesa Road. We develop and maintain a long-range financial plan for the Board.

Sanctuary Art
Linn Churchill - Team Leader
We design the signs and posters with monthly themes for the sanctuary. We also create the name tags for our community.

Sanctuary Beautification
Jennifer Parker - Team Leader
Our team prepares the sanctuary for services. We also decorate the sanctuary and fellowship hall for special/seasonal events.

Special Events
Jayde Lanning - Team Leader
We plan and coordinate special events at Unity in the Rockies, such as Concerts, Fundraising Events, Guest speakers, Workshops, etc.

Website
Michael Mendenall - Team Leader
Our team updates the website on a weekly basis. We communicate information about our church community to the world-wide-web audience - webmaster@unityrockies.org

Youth Education
Cathy Duryea - Team Leader
Our team strives to provide a comprehensive, fun and creative youth education program for kids of all ages. Our groups include: Uni-Babes/nursery (ages 0-2), Uni-Tots (ages 3, 4 &K), Uni-Kids (grades 1-5), Uni-Teens (middle school), and the Y.O.U.
