Who We Are

Unity Spiritual Center in the Rockies is affiliated with a worldwide movement committed to helping people by providing tools and teachings that support a progressive, holistic, and positive spiritual life. The Unity movement was founded in 1889 by Myrtle and Charles Fillmore as a healing ministry. Although its philosophical and cultural roots are based in the metaphysical interpretation of practical Christianity, it is not limited by these roots. The Fillmores studied Buddhism, Theosophy, Hinduism, and Rosicrucianism as well as Christianity and other spiritual traditions. As a result, Unity respects and honors the perennial wisdom and universal truths found in all the world's religions.

We regard Jesus as the great example rather than the great exception, and we recognize the Bible as a complex collection of writings compiled over many centuries. We honor these writings as reflecting the understanding and inspiration of the writers at the time they were written, and we honor other writings, both historic and contemporary, as well.

Unity Spiritual Center in the Rockies was founded in 1922 and comprises a diverse and energetic community of people willing to explore not only how we are alike, but also how we differ. In our differences, we are a garden of many colors, ages, faith traditions, and lifestyles.
